Get these crawlers to the shows!

I take my CA-1 to about 2 shows a year Most people don't have a clue what they are looking at.No matter what condition yours is in, Take it anyway! I spent as much time on a display board as I did on Restoration. Once people realize what these crawlers did they only ask more questions.I also showed my recently restored Mead mighty mouse along with the CA-1 A 5 year project. Sorry no pictures. Gotta go Keep on crawlen!

original motor color

I have seen many green engines in photos. My engine block and head is black all other parts are green. On the distributor side their are the letters IO and under that is A7554 stenciled upside down in aprox 1 1/2 letters. What's up with that? Got my clark in the garage after removing all I could and several pressure cleanings. I have started to clean it up for repair and paint. Will try to get some photos up for all to see.
Thanks John
Clark Air info needed

I have recently purchased a running Clark Air crawler. This tractor has been painted Allis Chalmers orange over the Army Green and has a Bureau of Indian Affairs tag on the dash. I expect it never made it out of the US. I am looking for an original or reprint manual and info on this tractor. The blade has a tag on it, but I have not located a tractor tag. Where were they located. Mine could be under some heavy old paint or grease if I knew where to look. Are they 6 volt battery system? Also need to know what points are used in the distributor, or what the distributor number is so I can match the points at a parts store. I can't read my tag as it is rusty. I have to file the points almost every time I start it. I would also like to purchase a scraper if there are any out there for sale. Thanks for any help. Mike
Clark Airbornes & New Message Site

Ray, this is Richard Bangert from Burlington IA. I am still working on restoring my Clark Airbornes and am getting closer. I did'nt realize you had got a new message board going until recently. I have a total of 5 in various states of working order. I am still working on rollers, tracks and a distributor that got broken. If you have or know of any more complete or Clark's for parts I am interested. Since I have turned over my business to my son, I collect and work on old tractors and dozers as well as have a 10 acre lot that I have turned into gardens (See bangertgardens.com).
It was nice visiting with you in the past at your place. I plan on showing two of my Clarks at local events this summer.
I probably will need your expert assistance in the future.
Thanks
Richard Bangert

1 more CA1

Ray, I found a CA1 several years ago, posted on ACMOC and you emailed me and told me what I had. I am getting closer to taking it on. I wanted to give you the serial number off the tag so you could add it to your list. CA-144 1454 dated 3-25-44. All tags including the blade tag are in top shape. The tractor is complete except the winch is probably on someone's pickup. I was told it was running a couple years before I got it. Nothing is stuck. Rusty antifreeze and clean oils. Original paint with lettering still legible. At a glance it needs seat work, side box work, and track roller work. I'm sure more is lurking. I look forward to working with you.

       ~Martin~

LaPlant Choate CAB Scraper Front Axle Bushings

Hello, Has anyone ever had the front axle off of a CAB scraper? The parts list in the technical manual show that there were two bushings used between the neck and the kingpin.

They are no long gone in the scraper that I am rebuilding. So I have some questions. 1) why are there two of them? 2) were thy made out or brass or are they hardened steel bushings?

I will be rebuilding the kingpin as it is very worn and rusted, and was turned around and installed upside down so the grease zerk was inside the neck where it was impossible to get to .(probably when the bushings disappeared?)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, mark
